LOCAL CHIROPRACTOR IN Killingworth
If you live in Killingworth, chances are your weekend doesn’t involve a lawn service — it involves doing it yourself. Bigger blocks mean more mowing, more gardening, more fencing repairs, more wheelbarrow trips and more firewood to split before winter. That kind of physical, repetitive outdoor work is brilliant for keeping active, but it also loads up your lower back, hips, shoulders and knees in ways a desk job never will. At Be Amazing Chiropractic, Dr Adam Arnold has spent more than 30 years helping people whose bodies take a hammering from real physical work around the property, not just from sitting at a desk. We’re a straightforward trip from Killingworth at our Charlestown clinic, and we’d love to help you keep doing the outdoor work you enjoy without paying for it in pain.
MEET DR. ADAM ARNOLD
Killingworth is one of the smallest and quietest suburbs in our service area, with a 2021 Census population of just 690 people and a median age of 39. Sitting around 23km west of Newcastle, south of West Wallsend and just east of the Sydney–Newcastle Freeway, it’s a genuinely semi-rural pocket of the City of Lake Macquarie — larger blocks, fewer neighbours, and no shopping strip or landmark to speak of. The area has real history, though: it grew up around coal mining from 1888, with Caledonian Collieries Limited taking over operations in 1895 and the Killingworth Colliery beginning production in October 1897 (later renamed West Wallsend Extended Colliery around 1915). A gas explosion in December 1910 damaged the pit, though thankfully no miners lost their lives, and the colliery kept operating until it closed in 1962. The town also supported a brick kiln, a sawmill that supplied timber for local housing, and a wagon repair shop that ran from 1924 to 1961. A public school operated in two stints, 1891–1892 and 1902–1941, but doesn’t exist today. We won’t pretend Killingworth has landmarks or a café strip it doesn’t — it’s a small, quiet residential pocket with a genuinely interesting mining past, and that’s exactly why we think it’s worth being upfront about what the suburb is and isn’t.

OUR APPROACH

Dr Adam Arnold is a Certified Zone School Practitioner, which means he looks beyond the sore spot to how your whole nervous system is functioning. Zone Technique is a gentle, whole-body approach that assesses different ‘zones’ of the body to identify where function may be compromised, rather than only chasing the area that hurts. For Killingworth residents who are regularly bending, lifting, kneeling and reaching around a larger property, this whole-body view can be a useful complement to more traditional, targeted chiropractic adjustments.

Dr Arnold is also trained in Quantum Neurology®, a functional neurological approach used alongside standard chiropractic care. It’s important to be clear about what this is: Dr Arnold is not a neurologist, and Quantum Neurology is not used to diagnose disease. It’s a functional add-on technique that can help assess how well your nervous system is communicating with the muscles and joints you rely on for everyday physical tasks — useful information when your work around the house or yard depends on coordinated movement, balance and stamina.

Alongside these specialised techniques, Dr Arnold provides traditional, evidence-informed chiropractic care — hands-on spinal and joint adjustments aimed at improving mobility and reducing pain. As a chiropractor, he’s a primary contact practitioner in Australia, so you don’t need a GP referral to book in. If at any point your presentation looks like it needs medical investigation or care outside chiropractic’s scope, Dr Arnold will refer you on to your GP or a hospital, as appropriate.
Finding Our Killingworth Clinic
Be Amazing Chiropractic isn’t located in Killingworth itself — our clinic is at Level 1, 46 Pearson Street, Charlestown NSW 2290, inside Hilltop Plaza, above the Charlestown Australia Post and right next to Charlestown Square. From Killingworth, most residents come via Cardiff and Glendale, picking up Newcastle Link Road before continuing on toward Minmi Road, with the Sydney–Newcastle Freeway running along the suburb’s eastern edge as a useful landmark. Travel time varies with traffic, so we’d suggest allowing a little extra time during peak periods. Once you arrive, Hilltop Plaza has its own on-site parking, and Charlestown Square next door offers free 2-hour parking if you’d like to make a stop while you’re in the area.

Quick answers to common questions.
Yes — a lot of what we see is exactly this kind of everyday strain from mowing, digging, fencing or lifting around the property. You don’t need a dramatic injury to benefit from an assessment; ongoing soreness after physical work is a common and completely valid reason to come in.
No referral is needed — chiropractors in Australia are primary contact practitioners, so you can book directly. Dr Arnold will assess you himself, and if anything suggests you need a GP or hospital instead, he’ll refer you on.

Your first visit is the $99 New Patient Experience, which includes a thorough consultation, examination and a discussion of what’s going on and what we can realistically do to help — results vary from person to person and can’t be guaranteed, but we’ll be upfront with you from the start.
